Margaret Rae is the Founder and CEO of Konree Innovation – a deeptech company, solving aquatic pest & parasite problems in fish aquaculture and aquatic invasive alien species.

Prior to that, Margaret was the EU Chair of the Marine Microbiome Working Group (August 2020-August 2023) and she was also a steering committee member of the Irish Ocean Literacy Network. From 2015-2020, Margaret was Director of the Atlantic Ocean Research Alliance Coordination and Support Action (AORA-CSA) at the Marine Institute Ireland; an EU Horizon 2020 Support Action that supported the Atlantic Ocean Research Alliance between Canada, the European Union, &the United States of America.

For the last 18 years, Margaret has worked in the marine sector and has a PhD degree in natural sciences from Instituto Superior Técnico, Lisbon, Portugal, a M.Sc. in environmental studies from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth & a BSc. from University College Dublin, Ireland.
